Invisalign® Q&A

What is Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign treatment uses clear plastic aligners to move crooked teeth into a more desirable position. The aligners fit snugly and comfortably over the top of the entire surface of your teeth to perfect their position without braces or invasive procedures, helping you achieve the smile of your dreams.

Why might I choose Invisalign?

Invisalign offers numerous cosmetic dental benefits, including:

  • Straighter teeth
  • Aligned bite
  • Reduced risk of oral health problems
  • Easier teeth cleaning
  • Gorgeous smile
  • Reduced tooth or jaw pain

Invisalign is a painless, highly effective orthodontics treatment that perfects the position of your teeth in as little as six months.

Is Invisalign the right treatment for me?

The Elmora Dental team determines if you’re a candidate for Invisalign after taking dental X-rays when necessary, examining your gums and teeth, and discussing your treatment preferences. The practice also offers braces, which are a better match for some patients. Your dentist tailors an orthodontics treatment that works best for your personalized needs.

What should I expect during my treatment?

The first step in an Invisalign treatment is for your dentist to digitally scan your mouth and teeth. This allows a lab to develop a series of aligners that mold perfectly over the top of your teeth.

After the aligners are made, simply wear them as directed by your dentist for 20-22 hours a day. Take the aligners out when you’re ready to eat, then brush your teeth, floss, and place them back in your mouth. Keep the aligners clean by using a cleaning system recommended by your dentist or a toothbrush and toothpaste.

When you rinse the aligners in water, avoid hot water that can damage the plastic. Call the Elmora Dental office if your aligners get damaged or lost.

What happens after Invisalign treatment?

After Invisalign treatment, which may last 6-12 months or longer, you can enjoy your straight teeth and gorgeous smile. Wearing a retainer, at least part-time, keeps your teeth in their new position long-term, so you don’t have to worry about them shifting out of place.
